📍 Villajoyosa – The Most Famous Moros y Cristianos Festival

Villajoyosa hosts what many consider the most spectacular Moros y Cristianos festival on the Costa Blanca. Recognised as a Festival of International Tourist Interest, it attracts thousands of visitors every summer.
Unlike many other festivals, this one takes place right on the Mediterranean coast.
Don’t Miss: El Desembarco (The Landing)
The highlight of the entire week is the legendary Desembarco, when dozens of boats approach the beach before dawn to recreate the Moorish landing of 1538.

Hotels sell out quickly, so many visitors stay in nearby Benidorm and drive over.

The harbour district of Duanes de la Mar hosts one of the Costa Blanca’s most atmospheric Moros y Cristianos celebrations.
Unlike Villajoyosa, Jávea’s festival feels more intimate, with the sea, marina and narrow streets creating a unique backdrop for the celebrations.

While the main celebrations traditionally take place between 13 and 16 August, the festival usually begins with opening events and cultural activities during the first weekend of August. The detailed official programme is published closer to the event.
